Windy City Sounds Interview: Shepard Hues

There are many talented artists in Chicago, but some simply shine through the crowd. Shepard Hues has the musical ability to get recognized among the pack and has recently started releasing some of the best music in the city. The producer/MC has teamed up with many well known artists including Supa Bwe and UG Vavy, the three of whom come together to form the group Fight Me, one of Chicago’s most elusive yet sought after ensembles. We got to interview him and ask him a little bit about his new tape, In Any Hue, what to expect from Fight Me and more. Check it out below.

Windy City Sounds: Marko Stat$

Every once in a while I’ll hear just one song from an artist and know I’ll be listening to them for quite some time. Marko Stat$ had that effect on me when I first heard his track Jubilation and from that moment on I’ve been following his music and been wildly impressed. I recently featured him on Don’t Sleep Pt. 6 and was excited to get to interview him for this feature. His introspective yet often upbeat sound creates a thoughtful juxtaposition that is immediately ear catching but will also have listeners coming back and revisiting songs to really hear the message he’s providing. See what he had to say about his project BEE-4 I FLY AWAY, how Chicago has impacted his music, and who some of his influences are below.`

Windy City Sounds: Seer

There are plenty of artists in Chicago making creative, innovative music but Seer is proving to be one of the city’s most imaginative musicians. His genre-less style incorporates a blend of oldies, pop, hip hop and really any sound that catches his ear, all coming together in a cohesive, ear catching way that highlights Seer’s ability to craft excellent music. While he just dropped his debut tape Secret 2 My Strut only a short time ago, Seer has been making waves for a while now producing for Decent Gang, one of Chicago’s most talented up and coming collectives, showing that the rest of the city is paying attention as well. We got to ask him about his recent tape, his work with Decent Gang and where his distinctive style comes from. Read more below.
