The songs that came out in the leadup to Watch My Back lend the project its backbone, from the grimey xan-inspired “Komfortable” produced by 6 below, to Lucki’s personal favorite “No Wok”, a window into his lean habit with production from Plu2o Nash and Mayhem Meech. The other singles, “Leave Wit You”, “FUCK EVERYBODY”, “OPTIONS”, and “NEW TO ME”, are some of the stronger songs on the project, although there are plenty of non-singles that pack similar punches.
Matt Whise always puts his all into his work and Starfox is no different. The song itself is classic Whise, complete with solid verses and top quality production from Jvst X. The video is just as dope as the song, taking inspiration from the N64 game Starfox and featuring Whise rocking out during some hype performances.
King Syed has been putting in some serious work recently and Habits is some of his best material yet. The thumping production from Syed and Linus is immediately ear catching and Syed shows he won’t waste a good beat. Solid verses, a memorable hook, and a dope beat switch all make this song one of my favorites from Syed yet. Check out Habits below.
If you’re looking for a banger, you’ve come to the right place. Revelations might be my favorite Monty Psychs song yet and it’s been on repeat for the past few days. Tarantino brings some serious heat on the production and Monty takes advantage, coming in with a great flow and solid verses. Check out Revelations below.
Rhino (The Neurosurgeon) has proven he is one of the more talented up and coming artists in Chicago and Sleep Good is another example of that talent. Sleep Good is a smooth R&B inspired track that showcases Rhino’s singing ability over excellent, low key production that creates a relaxing atmosphere. The cover art is pretty dope too. Check out Rhino (The Neurosurgeon)’s latest below.
