Creating a cohesive, focused, and high quality musical project is no easy feat but Proper The Villain did just that with The Life Of Boy Genius. Full of effortlessly energetic and creative flows with verses and production to match, The Life Of Boy Genius is a complete tape that is fun to listen to and easy to vibe with. Consisting of 14 tracks, there really isn’t a miss throughout the entire thing. The tape starts off immediately smooth with Armageddon, a jazzy, relaxed song that showcases the boom bap, easy to listen to style Proper can employ. Next is Burn It Up, a Wiz Khalifa-esque groove that proves to be another silky song with perfect smoking vibes. These two tracks show that Proper is a diversely talented MC who can create a distinct sound from a variety of different techniques.

From the boom bap aesthetic on the intro to the fun, relaxing, more modern sounding songs like Get Paid, HIGHways, and For My Niggas, Proper really does bring a lot of dopeness to The Life Of Boy Genius, but he does so in a way that is still consistent. This tape isn’t all over the place in the slightest and it’s easy to listen to the entire way through. One thing that helps with the crisp flow of the project is that most of the songs come in at under three minutes, meaning each track is straight to the point and doesn’t waste any space with superfluous sounds. This direct approach doesn’t mean there’s no experimentation though, quite the opposite in fact. With lo-fi vocals and eclectic beats, there’s plenty of freshness to be found throughout. Listen to all of The Life Of Boy Genius below and be on the lookout for more from ProperTheVillain.
